$8.75

Short-lived perennial with amazing burgundy red button-like flowers on longer dangling stems. Suitable for cooler areas or areas with cooler summer nights, sheltered from strong winds.

Green-gray leaves, leggy look. Moderate self-seeder (not all the seeds are fertile), gap filler, good for meadow-looking type of planting.

Blooming Time: June/July to early August/September, with the peak in early summer
Size: usually 1.5’ tall x 1’ wide, spacing 1’
USDA Zones: 5 to 7
Culture: full sun, half sun, grows well in average soil, but prefers some drainage (additional sand, gravel etc.). The better drainage, the longer-lived it is. Performs better in cooler climates (doesn't grow well in the hot and humid south).
Moisture Needs: medium-dry, medium
Origin: native to Europe - Macedonia and Balkan Peninnsula
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: butterflies and bees, pollinator very friendly
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Pot Size: square 3.5" x 5" deep pot

Plant combinations : Sunny borders, cottage gardens, gravel-mulched gardens, sand beds, accent plant and is suitable for some naturalizing (filling gaps in early stags of the planting). Can be combined with many common, sun-loving perennials, but looks awesome with silver, blue, purple and chartreuse colors – try it in combination with Alchemilla, Artemisia, Geranium, Lavandula, Salvia or Stachys byzantina. Good companions can be Agastache, Echinacea purpurea, Euphorbia, Gaura, Liatris, Monarda, Monarda, Oenothera and Penstemon. Looks well with many grasses. Good cut flower.
