Full sun or half sun are optimal (6+ hours), average soils, clayish, loamy, sandy, poor soil, adaptable. Average moisture (medium) to medium-dry.
Hardy in zones 5b t 9 (at least), red hot poker originates in the mountain meadows of South Africa.
