Large plant with bold arching silver leaves.

Mostly grown as annual and combined with annual.

For overwintering needs drained soil, that stay drier during the winter months (from zone 7b).

Does the best in areas with somewhat cooler summers.

Edible stems, thistle-like flowers attract pollinators (but will bloom second year and further on, if overwintered).

Goes well with majority of common native and non-native perennials, grasses and common annuals (nay plant with smaller leaves, smaller flowers). Good companions could include Achillea, Amsonia, Baptisia, Calamintha, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Eryngium, Liatris, Monarda, Nepeta, Ratibida, etc.
