We want to offer this plant, because G. sanguineum (and it's hybrids) do very well for us and are universal, low maintenance, tough and long-lived trouble free plants.
Forms bigger ground covering mounds.
Blooming Time: May-June, with sporadic reblooming into early September
Size: 16" tall x up to 20-24" wide
USDA Zones: 5 to 8
Culture: sun, half sun, half shade, adaptable to various soils - average soil, clayish, sandy, rocky or even leaner soil. The ideal spot has moderately fertile soil with average moisture. Avoid waterlogged soils.
Moisture Needs: medium, medium-dry, established plants tolerate droughts
Origin: discovered as random seedling in Wisley Gardens (UK) in the 90's and for a while was kept as 'Wisley Hybrid'. It is believed to be hybrid of Geranium sanguineum and Geranium wlassowianum, but the G. sanguineum is the only for sure known parent. Geranium sanguineum doesn'r crosspolinate with other species often, it has also very strong genes that in the whole appearance always overpower the genes of the other parent, but there's always some twist and the other parent genes will often express in bigger habit, larger flowers, longer blooming period or so.
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: honeybee and probably very few native bees
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Pot Size: square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot

Plant combinations: Due to it's adaptability, this plant can be combined with majority of perennials for sun or halfshade. Best use is as a groundcover, filling plant, for edges in sunny beds, woodland edges.
Good companions can be for example Baptisia, Echinacea, Hemerocallis, Irises, Paeonia, Kniphofia, Penstemons, Rudbeckia, Salvia, Stachys, Thermopsis and various grasses.
