Product Description
Smaller perennial with very hairy ornamental leaves and large golden flowers in May/June.
Award of Garden Merit by Royal Horticultural Society in GB.
Forms groundcovering mounds, about 10" tall and wide, with 1.5" flowers above the foliage. Blooms for about 2-3 weeks, but the leaves stay pretty for the whole season (may be cut back after blooming for fresh foliage).
Full sun is the best, average soil with average moisture to dry or drained soils (average, sandy, rocky, gritty soils of any pH). Don't plant in waterlogged soil. In hot climate may appreciate some afternoon shade or half shade.
Hardy in zones 4/5 to 8.
Deer and rabbit resistant, attracts honeybees and potentially other small pollinators.
Native to rocky slopes of Far East (southern Kamchatka, Sakhalin), Japan and China.
Easy to grow plant for edges, drained or dry soil, rock gardens, xeriscape, crevice gardens, troughs.
