Product Description
Summer flowering sage from high attitudes of Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia and Armenia. Heat and drought tolerant, natural looking perennial, that attracts bees and butterflies.
Plants with basal rosettes of medium green leaves, upright stems with smaller white flowers in June/July to mid/late August. Flowers continuously for several weeks, if deadheaded, it continues to bloom till late fall.
Usually grows to 24" (but can reach also 30") in height and width.
Full sun, drained soil, spots that are baking hot. Medium-dry to drier soils, well drained (rocky, gritty, sandy).
Plant will self seed a bit in garden condition. First described in 1836, but in culture is for shorter time. Easy to grow, bee and butterfly friendly plant. Other scientific name is Salvia transcaucasica.
Hardy in zones 5 to 10.
Aromatic leaves deter rabbits and deer.
For drier sunny beds, combined with many drought tolerant perennials and grasses.
