Thalictrum minus 'Adiantifolium' - FERN-LEAF MEADOW RUE

No reviews yet
Product Code: THA-MIN-ADIANT
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$7.99

Smaller meadow rue with very fine ornamental leaves - "adiantifolium" means "maiden  hair fern-like".

One of the top performers in Chicago Botanic Garden's trials, winning 4 stars out of 4.

2' tall x 1-1.5' wide. Creamy-yellow flowers in May-June can be quite effective, if planted in bigger groups, but the gray-green leaves are (probably) more ornamental.

Plant stays in clump, slowly increases it's width.

Half shade, dappled shade are the best. Can be grown in full sun only in cooler regions and with constant moisture. Average moisture (medium) to medium-moist. Average soil, moderately fertile, adaptable.

Doesn't like the heat and humidity of deeper south, so northern or northeastern states are better choice.

Hardy in zones 3 to 7.

Deer resistant. Probably tolerant to black walnut.

Native to Europe, Northwest and South Africa, Siberia.

Best in half shade or shade garden, along the paths, shade part or rain garden. Looks the best, if combined with rough structures (which is quite easy to do since it's leaves are so fine and any other plant has bigger leaves) - combine with Alchemilla mollis, Astilbe, Epimedium, Geum, Bergenia, Brunnera, Helleborus, Hosta, hardy Geranium, Iris cristata, Monarda clinopodia, Persicaria, tall Phloxes and Carolina hybrids, Physostegia, Sanquisorba, Stachys 'Summer Romance' or similar hybrids and grasses like Calamagrostis brachytricha, taller Carex or Hakonechloa.

Pot size : square 3.5" x 5" deep pot
