$7.99

Tough, surprisingly beautiful, with very long flowering season, very forgiving plant that can be planted without fear of failure!

Proven to grow well in European conditions, but also in many states throughout USA (from Vermont to South Georgia, from Washington to California).

Vegetatively propagated (horticultural form) with double flowers (slightly less than 1" in diameter) with yellowish centers - still attract small insects and some small butterflies. Pinatifid leaves.

Upright mounds 2-3' tall and wide. Flowers from May/June till September, with the peak in summer.

Full sun, half shade, average soils, dry soils, naturally draining clay (don't plant in waterlogged soils).

Deer and rabbits avoid it.

Hardy in zones 4 to 8.

This plant originates in Mongolia, Russia, Korea and China.

Best in sunny or half shade borders, the mounds are airy and fine looking, so this perennial looks the best if combined with rough structure (big leaves, big flowers) like Agastache (A. foeniculum, 'Blue Fortune'), Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Peaonia, Iris (bearded), Monarda, or with vertical lines of Liatris or taller cultivars of Salvia nemorosa (Salvia x sylvestris). And also grasses with wider leaves (Panicum).

Pot size : square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot
