Origin: Hybrid of several species, with C. verticillata as one of the parents. Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries (Oregon). The parent species, Coreopsis verticillata, is native to the eastern U.S. from Massachusetts to Florida and west to Arkansas (USDA distribution map); it grows in open rocky dry woods, open pine woods, margins, pine and oak savannas.
