This selection is very hardy (100% survival in the 2014-2015 winter at the University of Minnesota Perennial Flower Trial - with very little snow cover). The parent species, Coreopsis verticillata, is native to the eastern U.S. from Massachusetts to Florida and west to Arkansas (USDA distribution map); it grows in open rocky dry woods, open pine woods, margins, pine and oak savannas.
