Upgraded version of old fashioned plant of Sweet William!

Interspecific hybrid with more tidy upright growth, shorter statue, slightly smaller gray-green leaves and fragrant deep red single flowers!

Excellent cut flower, very long blooming season from late spring/early summer till frost.

Heat, humidity and even somewhat drought tolerant deer resistant plant.

Very hardy, lives about 3-4 years, then has to be divided to maintain the vigor.

Size: 18-244" tall tall x 10-12" wide, dense clumps
Flowering time: May/June till fall (summer drought can pause the flowering)
USDA Zones: 5a-8b
Culture: 
sun, half sun, average soils with some organic matter (compost), drained soil with average moisture (medium) to medium-dry soil. Avoid waterlogged soils (suffers with crown rot with too much moisture or in too heavy soils). Avoid heavy mulching with organic material - can cause crown rot.
Moisture Needs: medium (average), medium-dry 
Origin: Europe, Eurasia
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: resistant to both
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: butterflies and some bees
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Plant Combinations: Best in cottage gardens, fronts of the flower beds, cut flower gardens. Can self-seeds and can stay around. Good with many common perennials that prefer somewhat drrained or drier soils like Achillea, Agastache, summer blooming Allium, Asclepias tuberosa, smaller Baptisia, Calamintha, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Hemerocallis, Gaura, bearded Iris, Knautia, Liatris, Nepeta, Oenothera, Peaonia, Penstemons, Platycodon, Salvia nemorosa hybrids, tall Sedum,  Stachys, Veronica, Yucca, and grasses like Bouteloa, Muhlenbergia, Sporobolus, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sorghastrum.
