Echinacea x hybrid 'Baja Burgundy' - CONEFLOWER 'BAJA BURGUNDY'
Hardy hybrid coneflower with compact upright, well branched habit.
Gained 3.8 stars at Mt. Cuba trials and was 6th most pollinatoir favorite one (didn't reach higher score due to aster yellow).
All-America Selection (AAS) winner in 2020.
Burgundy red flowers and higher flower coverage. Starts to bloom earlier. Wide, nearly groundcovering clumps.
Narrow leaves show parentage of narrow- leaf coneflowers = better tolerance to drought, heat and humidity.
Blooming time : latespring/early summer = June to August, with the bpeak in July
Size : 18-20" tall x 22-24" wide
USDA zones : 4 to 9
Culture : full sun, average soil with some drainage (add coarse sand, fine gravel), drained soil, drier clay, preferably with moderate amount of organic matter (mineral soils). The coneflower hybrids do not like acidic soils and winter moisture. Drainage helps with the longevity
Moisture Needs : medium to medium-dry, tolerant to summer droughts
Origin : Darwins Perennials introduction, part of Sombrero® collection. Patented variety, EU PBR45817; PP28,162; US7,982,110. Propagation for commercial purposes is prohibited.

Great with many native perennials - Agastache, summer blooming Allium, Amsonia, Asclepias, Aster, Baptisia, Calamintha, Callirhoe, Caryopteris, Coreopsis, Dalea, Eryngium, Gaura, most of hardy Geraniums, Heliopsis, Helianthus, Lavandula, Liatris, Limonium, Monarda, Nepeta, Origanum, Perovskia, Rudbeckia (R. fulgida var. deamii, R. fulgida var. speciosa, R.
