Euphorbia polychroma 'Bonfire' - CUSHION SPURGE 'BONFIRE'
Tidy-looking, mounding perennial with deep purple, red, and orange leaves with a touch of chartreuse (while the undergrowth is green). Burgundy red at the height of summer and rich red in the fall. Yellow flowers in the spring.
The whole spurge family (Euphorbiaceae) contains toxic white latex, a skin and eye irritant, so it's best to handle them with gloves.
Not suitable for hot and humid south.

Size: 12-16” tall x 18-24” wide, nice regular spherical mounds

Culture: full to half sun, average soil to drained soil (rocky soil, sandy, gritty soil). Avoid waterlogged or wet clay. Drought tolerant. Appreciates light afternoon shade in hotter areas.
Moisture Needs: medium, medium-dry, dry for some parts of the year.
Origin: The species is native to Central and southeastern Europe, Asia. 'Bonfire' was bred by Mary Ann Faria of Limerock Plant Farm (comes from a cross of two unnamed Euphorbia polychroma plants. Introduced by Blooms of Bressingham®. Plant is patented under PP18585 (issued on March 11, 2008).
