Aromatic leaves that turn red-orange in the fall, soft pink flowers open from mauve buds in May.
Flowers for short period of time, but it's quality is the dense groundcovering mat.
Slowly spreads via surface rhizomes and is true groundcover that suppresses weeds (plant in area free of perennial weeds).
Won the Award of Garden Merit from the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society, Britain) in 1993.

USDA zones : 4 to 8, heat and humidity tolerant
Culture : half shade, light, dappled shade, tolerates full shade (but plants may be a bit looser looking). Average soil with average moisture (medium) - amended with some compost, leaf compost and mulch with organic debris (leaves, shredded leaves or little bit of bark mulch). Adaptable (slightly acidic, neutral or slightly alkaline, average).
Moisture Needs : average - medium, medium-dry, to medium-moist
Origin : discovered by Walter Ingwersen (author of The Genus Geranium), while on a hiking expedition to Mount Koprivinik, Yugoslavia.

Plant combinations : This is woodland edge plant (or light deciduous forest plant) and looks the best as a groundcover in half shade, or woodland garden. Plant in small groups (mall patches) or medium sizes areas, under canopy of bigger trees, in front of groups of shrubs. Trouble free and easy to grow plant.
Looks good if combined with grassy-leaves. From grasses choose Carex (sedges), Deschampsia, Hakonechloa. Other good companions can be Aconitum, Alchemilla, Anemone hupehensis (japonica hybrids), Amsonia, Aquilegia, Aruncus, Astilbe, Astrantia (in cooler areas), Brunnera, Cimicifuga (Actaea), Chrysogonum, Dicentra, Epimedium, Gallium odoratum, hardy Geraniums, Geum, Gillenia, Heuchera and Heucherella, Hosta, Iris sibirica, Iris tectorum, Nepeta subsessilis, Persicaria amplexiaculis, Polemonium, Phlox stolonifera, Polygonatum, bigger Pulmonaria, Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm', Spigelia, Tiarella,Tradescantia, Waldsteinia, ferns and all spring ephemerals.
