Smaller filling and ground covering perennial for edges in full sun or half shade.
Darker brown-red foliage, pink-reddish flowers.
Blooming Time: mid to late spring, with reblooming in the late summer and fall. In cooler areas blooms continuously from late spring till frost
Size: 10" tall x 24" wide low mound with semi-evergreen leaves
USDA Zones: 5 to 8
Culture: full sun to half shade. Average soils, moderately fertile, somewhat drained. Adaptable, but avoid waterlogged soils.
Moisture Needs: average (medium to medium-dry), to slightly moist, adaptable. Established plants tolerate some droughts.
Origin: garden origin, Europe - bred by Alan Bremner at the Orkney Islands north of Scotland.
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: no/yes in moderation (mostly honey bees and some other bees)
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Deer and rabbit resistant: moderately / yes
Black walnut tolerant: not known
Pot Size: square 3.5" wide x 4" deep perennial pot
Plant Combinations: Small filler-groundcover for the edges, flower beds, rock gardens, along paths and patios. Can be combine with many common perennials for sun and half shade, but looks better with shorter, smaller or medium-sized plants. Combine with shorter varieties of Amsonia, Anemone hupehensis, Aster, Coreopsis, Echinacea, smaller Hemerocallis, Heuchera, smaller bearded Iris, Kalimeris, short Monarda, Nepeta, Origanum, Paeonia, Penstemon, shorter and more compact Perovskia, shorter Phlox, Rudbeckia, Salvia, Sedum, smaller Solidago, Stachys, Stokesia, Tradescantia, Veronica, etc. and medium sized or other taller ornamental grasses (Pennisetum, Koeleria, Sporobolus) or smaller shrubs.
