Summer blooming perennial with sword-shaped, iris-like leaves and pure citrine-yellow flowers.

Clusters of shiny black berries that persist to winter months (deadhead to prevent too many seedlings).

Easy to grow, pest and disease free plant.

Roots are used in traditional chinese medicine (respiratory and irregular menstrual cycle remedy etc.)

Size : 1-1.5' tall x 0.75-1' wide

USDA zones : 5 to 10 (heat zone 5-9)

Culture : Full sun, half sun, average soil with medium moisture to medium-dry, loamy soils or moderately fertile soils. Moisture Needs : dry, medium-dry, medium (can handle moist soils, but have to be drained well to prevent winter rot)

Origin : Native to Himalays, Russian Far East, China, Taiwan and Japan.

Deer/rabbit resistant : yes / yes
