Product Code: LYC-SQUA-XXX
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$8.99

Old-fashioned plant, that forms clumps of strap-shaped leaves in the spring, then dies back and completely disappears until flowering time in late summer.

Clusters of soft 5-6" trumpet-shaped pink flowers (with lilac-bluish hint) on naked stems (therefore also called Naked Ladies).

Easy to grow, adaptable and the hardiest of Lycorius. Best if planted in small groups of at least 3-5 pieces and left undisturbed in the ground.

The whole plant is slightly poisonous, so critters avoid it.

Blooming time: late summer to early fall
Size: usually 2' tall flowering stems, leaves 1-1.5' tall. Leaf-clumps 1-2' wide. Spacing 4-8", plant 6-8" deep.
USDA zones: 5 to 9, heat zone 6-12
Culture: full sun, half shade, average soil with some organic matter, loam, clayish. Moderately fertile to fertile soils of any pH.
Moisture Needs: medium to medium-dry, dry, tolerant to summer droughts
Origin: Japan
Deer/rabbit resistant: yes/yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: some butterflies and bees
Attracts Hummingbirds: yes
Pot size: square 3.5" x 5" deep pot
Plant combinations: Can be combined with a variety of perennials, probably better with perennials that have a mounding shape or a more regular shape like Amsonia, shorter Aster, Baptisia, Calamintha, Coreopsis, most of hardy Geraniums, Heliopsis, shorte cultivars of Helianthus, Monarda, Nepeta, Origanum,  Perovskia, Rudbeckia (R. fulgida var. deamii, R. fulgida var. speciosa, R. 'American Gold Rush'), Salvia, Scutellaria incana, Sedum, shorter Solidago, Stachys, shorter mounding Vernonia, or grasses like Eragrostis spectabilis, Muhlenbergia, Sporobolus heterolepis or Panicum.
