Small evening primrose with larger (1"+) magenta flowers. For hot and dry garden.

Short-lived, but will self-seed.

Blooming Time: June-July/August 
Size: small clump 0.5-0.75' tall x 0.5'-1' wide
USDA Zones: 6 to 10
Culture: full sun, medium to dry soils. Best in drained soils - shallow, rocky, gritty, sandy, gravelly
Moisture Needs: medium-dry to dry
Origin: native wildflower to Arizona and Texas
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: yes / yes
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Pot Size: square 3.5" x 5" deep pot
Plant Combinations: 
Best in xeriscape, drier sunny border, rock gardens, troughs, sand and gravel beds. 

Other good combinations include Agastache, Amsonia, Asclepias tuberosa, Asclepias verticillata, narrow-leaved Echinacea, Eryngium, shorter Gaura, Liatris, Penstemon, Perovskia, Scabiosa columbaria, Sedum, Stokesia, or smaller/medium sized grasses (Eragrostis, Muhlenbergia, Sporobolus).
