Physostegia virginiana 'Vivid' - OBEDIENT PLANT 'VIVID' (spreading & short)

Product Code: PHY-VIR-VIVID
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$8.99

Short cultivar, reaching only 2' of height, still spreading some. Award of Garden Merit by Royal Horticultural Society (UK) in 1993.

Attracts pollinators, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Spread depends on conditions - in ideal conditions = sun and rich moist soil - can still be aggressive spreader and can form larger colonies.

Full sun, half shade, adaptable to most soil types, including sandy, rocky soils or clay. Medium moisture to wet soils. Surprisingly this plant is also quite drought tolerant!

Easy to grow perennial, for it's shorter height it fits in the center or front of flower bed, or for prairie style planting, naturalistic or cottage gardens, pollinator, butterfly or hummingbird gardens, rain gardens or for naturalization.

Good companions can be many perennials on both spectrum of average moist soils to moist-wet soils. 'Vivid' meets and looks good with daisy-like flowers like Echinacea, Helenium, Leucanthemum superbum, Rudbeckia fulgida, Silphium. Another good company can provide Amsonia, Alchemilla mollis, Anemone japonica (A. x hupehensis), Aster novae-angliae, Hibiscus moscheutos hybrids, Phlox paniculata or hybrids Solidago, Thalictrum and grasses like Andropogon gerardii, Panicum virgatum or Carex.

Pot size : square 3.5" x 5" deep pot
