Blunt mountain mint - native plant throughout eastern north America - grows in open moist woods, meadows, and bogs. It makes spreading clumps with bright green very aromatic leaves, and 2 foot stems are topped in mid to late summer and fall with clusters of pink flowers surrounded by beautiful silvery bracts.
Bees, butterflies, wasps, and a myriad of other insects find mountain mint to have irresistible nectar and pollen. It attracts by far, the greatest number and diversity of pollinators of all our plants.
Mountain mint is easy to grow in full sun or light shade. It prefers average to moist conditions, is drought tolerant once established.
The aromatic foliage is a real delight - plant it where you or your pets might brush past it frequently.
