Salvia nemorosa 'Pink Profusion' - PERENNIAL SALVIA 'PINK PROFUSION'

Very good cultivar with a dense, round growth habit and deep pink flowers settled in dark purple calyxes. Vigorous growth and strong rebloomer if cut back. Proven Winners' 2024 Perennial of The Year! 

This fast growing, long-lived plant is highly adaptable and easy to grow. It's tolerant to heat and humidity, and established plants tolerate droughts and drier conditions. 

Blooming time: late spring/early summer, reblooms repeatedly after cutting it back until early fall
Size: 14-16” tall x 16-20" wide
USDA Zones: 3 to 8
Culture: full sun to half shade, dappled sun (ideally 6+ hours of direct sunlight). Any soil (acidic, alkaline, average), preferably with some organic matter to support the reblooming
Moisture Needs: average - medium to dry. Avoid wet and waterlogged soils
Origin: Introduced by Walters Gardens in 2018. Patented plant under PP31435, unlicensed propagation is prohibited. 'Pink Profusion' reminds of similar cultivars like 'Bumbleberry', 'Sensation Rose' or 'Rose Queen', but the growth is more stiff and 'Pink Profusion' has much stronger reblooming power. Plant Combinations: For a sunny garden (public and private), can be planted in small groups or mass plantings. For the front, edges, along patios and paths, bigger rock gardens, slopes and bigger containers. Best combined with smaller to medium-sized perennials or groundcovers. Can be combined with plants that prefer somewhat drier conditions (and are drought tolerant): from natives, choose a shorter Agastache, shorter Amsonia, Antennaria, Asclepias tuberosa, smaller Baptisia, Campanula rotundifolia, Coreopsis, Cunila origanoides, Dalea, Eryngium juccifolium, Echinacea, Gaillardia, Gaura (shorter cultivars), shorter Liatris, Penstemons, Ruellia humilis, Stokesia, Verbena canadensis, Yucca, native grasses like Boutelloa gracilis or B. curtipendula, Koeleria cristata, Sporobolus heterolepis 'Tara' (or non-native Sesleria), or a medium-sized Panicum.

From non-native perennials, choose Achillea, a summer blooming Allium, shorter Aquilegia, Armeria, shorter Aster, Calamintha, Campanula, Cerastium, Delosperma, Dianthus, Eryngium, Geranium (G. sanquineum, G. dalmaticum and x cantabrigiense, G. endresii, G. renardii), Gypsohila, Iris x barbata (=I. x germanica), Lavandula, Nepeta, Origanum, Paeonia, Perovskia, Platycodon, Satureja, other Salvia, Sedum, Sempervivum, low Stachys, Scabiosa columbaria, Thymus, lower Veronica, etc....

It will go well with plants that like more moisture too, such as Iris sibirica, Leucanthemum x superbum, Hemerocallis (daylily), Phlox paniculata hybrids or Phlox carolina hybrids.
