Product Description
Ground covering fern, tough, with firm leaves that don't break up easily. Vigorous and slowly spreading wide. Underused and not much known in horticultural trade.
P. decursive-pinnata is a deciduous, upright fern with beautifully tapered, feathery fronds that are dark green on top and brighter on the bottom, creating an eye-catching contrast. It spreads slowly and readily, but not aggressively, via runners to form colonies. The ideal pale green color appears most consistently in partial shade.
This fern is perfect as a groundcover and in woodland gardens, shady borders, naturalized areas, and containers. It tolerates heavy shade and wet soil; it also tolerates short periods of drought, but looks the best with access to consistent moisture and good drainage. It may be evergreen in warmer zones but is a hardy perennial in cooler climates.
Previously known as Thelypteris decursive-pinnata.
