Sprawling/ creeping, ground-covering perennial for sunny gardens.

'Perfecta' is seed-strain cultivar of native wildflower with bright neon pink-magenta flowers.

Best for edges, sunny beds with average or drained soils.

 

Blooming Time: mid/late spring to early summer, then reblooms in late summer (can bloom continuously in soils with enough nutrients, extreme summer heat can pause the blooming)
Size: 6-8" tall x 12" wide and slowly spreading wide
USDA Zones: Hardy in zones 5-9.
Culture: Full sun, average soils, drier soils, drier clay, rocky, sandy, gritty soils with average moisture to dry. Prefers some drainage (soil amended with some sand or fine gravel, but can handle clay, if it is dry clay).
Moisture Needs: average to dry
Origin: seed strain, somewhat variable in flower color. Unknown origin.
Natural area of this very showy wildflower is wide, reaching from deep south to north, also from central USA to the east coast. See the BONAP distribution map. 

Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes/yes (bitter and coarse leaves)
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: It is not pollinator magnet, but occasionally attracts some pollinators.
Attracts Hummingbirds: yes

Plant CombinationsExcellent for the front of a sunny borders with average to dry soil.

Looks very good with yellow flowers (Coreopsis, Rudbeckia hirta, Rudbeckia missouriensis, new shorter cultivars of Rudbeckia), but other perennial comapions can be Agastache, Asclepias (A. tuberosa, verticilata), Gaura, Nepeta, shorter Liatris, Lavandula, Penstemon, and others, or grasses like Eragrostis, Muhlebergia, Koleria cristata,Sporobolus and Schizachyrium scoparium.
