Little gem with divided leaves (reminding of bird foot) and bi-color flowers.
Best in drained, drier or dry soil, rock garden, crevice gardens, troughs, edges.

Blooming Time: April-May, with some reblooming later on till fall

Culture: Full sun, partial sun (half shade, if drainage is provided). Average soils, preferably with some drainage (sand, rock, gravel) - poor drainage can cause crown rot. Any pH (we grow it successfully in highly alkaline soil)
Moisture Needs: medium-dry to dry
Origin: Selected by Dr. Don Jacobs (Decatur, Georgia). His selections of native plats often carry the "Eco" in the names. The species is native to central and eastern part of USA, and parts of Canada, where can be found in rocky, open woods, sandy prairies, sandy pinelands. See the BONAP distribution map.
