Product Description
Very tall native prairie perennial, easily reaching 7' tall x 2' wide.
Late bloomer (July to September), narrow upright growth, but it can easily self seed and spread to form colonies up to 8' wide. Flowers are on slender stems, up to 2" wide, with dark brown center. Three-lobed leaves are aromatic.
Native wildflower to Central and southeastern United, in prairies, dry open woods, wood margins, and along roadsides or railroads. See the USDA distribution map.
Hardy in zones 4 to 8. Very tolerant and adaptable to soils and moisture - can grow in medium dry, medium or medium-wet soils, tolerates any soil from clay to shallow, drier rocky soil or disturbed soil. Full sun, half sun or half shade are the best.
Plants in poor soils are shorter, open and spindly, while plants on good soils and consistent moisture are taller and fuller. Plants usually don't need staking.
Deer and rabbit resistant plant (occasional browsing can happen only on young shoots, but it's rare).
Very good pollinator plant - attracts native bees and bumblebees , butterflies, skippers, beetles, larvae of two moths feed on foliage.
Can be used as a background of a flower bed (dead head for unwanted seedlings), or naturalized in meadows, prairie type of plantings, pollinator or butterfly gardens.
Good perennial for poor, drier and disturbed soils.

Plants arrived looking health and is growing fine now planted. Hoping it will bloom next year.
