Long-lived ornamental grass with gracefully cascading leaves. Golden yellow fall color.
Safe, non-invasive grass, that reminds of bamboo. Quite robust and easy to grow in half shade or shade garden.
Air pollution tolerant plant, deer and rabbit resistant, pest and disease free grass.
Blooming Time: July/August, but flowers are greenish and loose and less ornamental than the leaves themselves
Size: size depends on the conditions, usually around 18" tall'' tall and 24-36" wide. Very slowly spreads into wide clumps

Culture: Very adaptable to soil types, pH and moisture. Seems to do the best in half shade, but it will tolerate even full sun (especially in cooler zones) or up to deep or dappled shade. Grows well in average to organic rich soils with average moisture (medium) to medium-moist. Established plants are fairly drought tolerant.

Plant Combinations: Excellent groundcovering grass for shade or half shade garden, woodland garden, Japanese or Asian style garden, along the stream or cooler parts of the garden, under canopy of trees, hanging over rock or wall. Great combinations are with Hosta, but also other shade perennials like Actaea (Cimicifuga), Anemone japonica (A. hupehensis), Aquilegia, Alchemilla, Astilbe, Asarum, Astrantia, Aster divaricatus, Aster macrophyllus, Brunnera, Chrysogonum, Epimedium, hardy Geraniums, Heuchera, Omphalodes, Persicaria amplexicaulis, Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise', Polygonatum, Thalictrum, Tricyrtis, Waldsteinia, ferns, Carex or Hydrangea.
